What is Building Pathology?

Building pathology is the study and analysis of defects and failures in buildings. It involves identifying issues such as structural damage, water infiltration, and material degradation to understand their causes and impacts. The study of building pathology aims to ensure the longevity and safety of structures through proper diagnosis and remediation techniques. By addressing these problems, building pathology contributes to more sustainable and resilient historic buildings.

Why Building Pathology Matters

Sometimes, there is a simple correlation between cause and result of a defect, however with historic buildings the cause of an issue needs further analysis and monitoring as to ensure that the defect is correctly diagnosed and remediated. Building Pathology will ensure:A full understanding of the history of building informs the diagnosisThe defect is correctly diagnosed ensuring repairs can confidently resolve issuesEnsure minimum intervention to historic fabricSave you and your building from further issues and having to pay for repairs multiple times
