Conservation Repairs

At Patina Building Conservation we have a technical understanding of traditional materials that is reinforced by continual research, study and engagement with specialist conservators. Our grasp of the materials that were used historically ensures that we can specify and complete repairs to a historic building alongside experienced craftspeople.

Honest repairs and interventions don't have to be rude.

What are Conservation Repairs?

Conservation repairs look to maximise the retention of historic fabric whilst ensuring the building can continue to function for those that come after us. As a historic building surveyor, this means that we understand the process of completing repairs and the practicalities of each repair. This leads through to our work with craftspeople who also wish to respect the craftspeople that came before them and complete high quality repairs that match the skill of their predecessors.

Why Conservation Repairs Matter

Completing high quality sympathetic repairs have benefits for both the building and you as an owner.

  • Conserve historic fabric, allowing the maximum amount of historic fabric to be retained

  • Prevent issues with the use of incompatible materials or poorly executed repairs

  • Repairs that outlast the cheaper alternative and therefore reduce the cost overall

The repair of a historic building in a sympathetic manner means that we leave a legacy of work that respects the original building.
